Made in America, Bioheat® is a blend of ultra-low sulfur heating oil and renewable resources such as soybeans, cotton, plant oils, sunflower seeds or other domestic renewable resources.
Used in your existing heating equipment, Bioheat® is a cleaner burning fuel than regular heating oil, is more efficient than regular heating oil and requires no modification to your equipment.
In order for a fuel to be called Bioheat®, it can only be made with ASTM D6751 grade biodiesel. ASTM international is a group that sets technical standards for the global industry; D6751 is the specification for 100% biodiesel fuel.
Biodiesel is the only renewable diesel fuel with approved ASTM specifications, which helps ensure that the fuel will provide trouble-free usage along with the benefits that have been demonstrated by more than $100 million in research and development over the past two decades.
Canal Fuel typically blends up to 20% ASTM spec biodiesel (depending on availability) from a local top producer of biofuel in New England. This fuel is blended with Ultra Low Sulfur Heating Oil. Not only is its production astonishingly energy efficient, but the fuel itself is nontoxic, biodegradable, and promotes better air quality and environmental sustainability by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
It also provides a cleaner, more complete and energy efficient burn. Translated to a typical oil-burning household, using 800 gallons of Bioheat® fuel blended with Ultra Low Sulfur Heating Oil per year could conserve 160 gallons of oil annually and the emissions that go along with it.
